What Are The 3 Types Of Bins In Ballina
Ballina is no different to other councils where we have 3 domestic wheelie bins.
- Garden & organics,
- Recyclables,
- Mixed waste.
Garden & Organics – the Green Bin
The green wheelie bin is collected on a weekly basis. The reason is so that all the organic material is not allowed to into the normal waste stream. The green bin contents will be converted into to a reusable product such as compost.
This in turn reduces landfill costs and helps the environment.
What Can I Put In The Green Bin?
As per Ballina Council’s requirements the organics bin can contain:
- Fruit ,
- vegetable scraps
- Meat, fish and bones
- Bread, cereal, pasta and grains
- Leftover food
- Tea bags and coffee grounds
- Grass clippings, sticks and twigs
- Weeds, leaves and flowers
- Paper towels and tissues
Tips for the Green Bin: When the bin has been cleaned by Coastal Bin Busters place some newspaper in the bottom to stop grass cuttings from sticking, and try to keep the bin in the shade.
